St. Cloud area homeless concerns committee speaks to state policymakers about homelessness

On December 10, 2008 the St. Cloud Area Homeless Concerns Committee met with Representatives Dan Severson, Steve Gottwalt, and Larry Hosch and spoke with them about homeless issues and the work that providers are doing to address homelessness in the area.  In particular ageincies educated policymakers about their program efforts, their sources of funding, how they all work and collaborate together in our community, and unmet needs, or gaps which exist in the community.

Thirteen agencies participated.  They included:

Catholic Charities SHY Program–homeless youth

Catholic Charities Hope program–mental health issues

CentraCare –journey home–Chemical Dependency

Central MN Council on Aging

Central MN re-entry Project–re-entry from incarceration

Catholic Charities Domus Program–transitional housing

Housing Coalition–Supportive housing

St. Cloud HRA–Subsidized housing

TriCAP–Renting 101 & Financial stability

Stearns Benton Workforce Center
