Office of Justice Programs Issues RFP for Partnerships

Posted November 1st, 2005

Are you looking for funds to provide better coordination between law enforcement and service providers? Do you want funds to build a better reentry partnership with the local jail?

The Office of Justice Programs offers a number of grants to improve justice-related partnerships and community safety.

The Minnesota Office of Justice Programs (OJP) provides leadership and resources to reduce crime in Minnesota, to improve the criminal justice system, and to assist victims of crime.

OJP administers millions of dollars each year for justice related programs, including ex-offender re-entry projects and community partnerships.

Currently an RFP is available for community partnerships with law enforcement. The RFP, Problem Solving Partnership Grants, will fund active partnerships between two or more public or private non-profit entities. This can include state, local and tribal governmental agencies, schools and community-based organizations. The partnerships must address a defined public safety issue and have a high likelihood of improving community conditions. The design of the project should be supported by best practices.

OJP lists a number of examples for proposed projects, such as:

  • Community group and law enforcement relationship building efforts
  • Police and community corrections partnerships
  • Problem-solving courts (such as mental health courts)
  • Corrections and community offender reentry partnerships
  • Community volunteer led enhanced probation

Projects must currently have an active partnership between two or more public or private non-profit entities. The size of the grants on average will range between $50,000 and $300,000 for a two-year period from January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2007. The deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2005.

Applicants must apply online on the Web-Enabled Grant Operations (WEGO) system.
