On Tuesday, July 18, 2006, Intercongregation Communities Association will unveil the fruits of its multi-year capital campaign, The Challenge Is On… Constructing the Future of ICA.
Supporters are encouraged to show their support by attending the event, which will be held at the Episcopal Parish of St. David (located at 13000 St. David Road in Minnetonka).
The opening of the ICA Center at St. David will allow ICA to better serve its clients.
“Constructing the Future of ICA is a community project. The work we do not only benefits people by helping them move from a crisis to self-sufficiency but this work also strengthens the health and wellbeing of our entire community. The ICA Center will help us serve families and individuals in need more efficiently,” said Annette Poeschel, ICA’s Executive Director.
The new site will also provide a confidential, dignified, safe environment for our families and individuals in need from the seven communities ICA serves.
ICA works to feed the hungry, keep families from becoming homeless, and help with transportation needs for those in need in several west metro suburban communities, including Hopkins, Minnetonka, Deephaven, Woodland, Greenwood, Excelsior, and Shorewood.
Last year ICA served 8,675 households. In 2004, ICA distributed 278,000 pounds of food and 356,000 pounds in 2005, which represents a one-year increase of 28 percent.
ICA’s projected cost for its portion of the new Center is $700,000, which includes construction costs, furnishings and equipment. Since kicking off its capital campaign, ICA has raised $370,000, but still needs to raise $330,000 to meet its goal of raising $700,000 by May 23, 2007. To meet its fundraising goal, ICA is asking its supporters to consider a donation for a brick, window or door to help. ICA also is encouraging in-kind donations for office furniture, equipment, landscaping, paint, carpeting, a walk-in cooler, freezer, garage doors, etc.
