  • Over 10,000 homeless Minnesotans were counted on October 25, 2012
  • Homelessness increased 6% between 2009 and 2012
  • 46 percent of homeless Minnesotans are children and youth under age 21
  • Between 2009 and 2012 there was a 22% increase in the number of homeless two-parent families

2009 Fast Facts

  • 13, 100 Minnesotans are homeless in any given night
  • 32% live in Greater Minnesota
  • 34% of Minnesota’s homeless population are children
  • At least 2,500 unaccompanied youth are homeless on any given night – a 46% increase since 2006
  • 20% of homeless adult men are military veterans
  • 30% of homeless adult women are fleeing domestic violence
