Coalition Morns the Passing of Long-time Activist Greg Horan
On Monday, Greg Horan, a Board Member, and former President of the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless passed away.
He will truly be missed. He spent much of the last twenty years working to improve the plight of people experiencing homelessness. He created Street Views, Minnesota’s first street publication. He set up Twin Cities Community Voice Mail, a voice-mail service for the homeless. He also founded and served on the boards of countless advocacy organizations, including the Mn Coalition for the Homeless, St. Paul Area Coalition for the Homeless, and Metro-wide Engagement on Shelter and Housing.
During an interview, Bret Byfield, a social worker in St. Paul, told the Pioneer Press that “[Greg] had a unique blend of humility, intelligence and determination. He really fostered trust in peers, among funders, legislators. He was just so authentic and genuine that it was impossible not to take his viewpoint seriously,”
