MCH/MESH Golf Tournament

On Friday, September 10th, 2010, the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless and Metro-wide Engagement on Shelter & Housing (MESH) will host our 1^st Annual Golf to End Homelessness event at ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Deer Run Golf Course in Victoria.  Our goal is to engage over 30 sponsors and 120 golfers in effort to raise over $40,000 to help fund our efforts to end homelessness.
 
After leveling off in the mid-2000s the number of homeless people in Minnesota is at a crisis level.  On October 22, 2009, 9,452 homeless adults, youth, and children were counted in shelters, transitional housing, and on the streets.  This compares to 7,751 counted in 2006.  Studies show that the longer a person is homeless, the more difficult the path back to stability; the greater the toll taken on their physical and mental health, the more their children struggle to adapt to new schools and the stigma of homelessness, and the more relationships begin to disintegrate under the stress of the situation.
 We need your support.  Despite a challenging economy, homelessness is not inevitable.  Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless and MESH provide essential support to local and state efforts to end homelessness by helping to:
·         Secure housing
·         Prevent homelessness
·         Streamline services for homeless children, youth, and adults.
