Join the Coalition

Updated May 6th, 2008

The Coalition is a membership organization comprised of hundreds of agencies and individuals from across the state who are committed to ending homelessness.

Joining the Coalition is one of the strongest statements you can make in support of our goal of ending homelessness in Minnesota.
The Coalition is the only statewide advocacy group in Minnesota fighting for the entire continuum of homeless services: prevention; outreach; shelter; transitional housing; supportive housing; and permanent affordable housing. Your support will help us:

  • educate the public on the causes and consequences of homelessness
  • advocate on the federal, state, and local level to prevent and end homelessness
  • partner with local communities on developing local solutions
  • fight for homeless youth, victims of domestic violence, single adults, and families
  • ensure that public policies and funding reach people on reservations and in rural areas as well as urban and suburban communities
  •

The strength of the Coalition’s membership is a sign of our political strength to policymakers. Our members are active in setting our priorities. We value each member’s input — you make a difference!

    Benefits of Becoming a Member

Some benefits of becoming a member of the Coalition include:

  • Public Policy. In addition to supporting the policy work of the Coalition through your membership, the Coalition provides members with opportunities to mobilize in support of legislation and policies that bring Minnesota closer to ending homelessness via email alerts, which give members an opportunity to actively participate in shaping public policy at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Coalition Events. The Coalition invites and encourages its members to take part in the myriad events organized throughout the year, including the annual conference and various educational forums. Coalition events draw together a broad cross section of direct service providers, advocates, people of faith, people experiencing homelessness and government experts who take advantage of opportunities to learn, organize, and network.
  • News and Information. Members receive regular news and information updates from Coalition staff, including the Coalition Connection.
  •

    Organizational Membership

The Coalition’s member agencies educate communities about homelessness and build public support to ensure that people at risk of or experiencing homelessness receive the support and have access to the services that they need.

Becoming a member of the Coalition is straight-forward and easy. By joining forces with the Coalition’s other member agencies, you will help us in our efforts to strengthen our collaboration and advocacy capacity, enabling us to continue our efforts to end homelessness.

    Individual and Student Membership

The Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless depends on its members!

Individuals, families, and students become members by making an annual donation to the organization.

Members’ financial contributions account for a significant portion of the Coalition’s annual budget. The Coalition is a tax-exempt organization and is registered as a charitable organization with the Minnesota Attorney General’s office.
