We’ve made great strides in Minnesota in the past few years, but we have a long way to go to ensuring safe, decent, and affordable housing for everybody in our state. I am confident that with your membership support, we can move more rapidly to achieving the ideals we share.
The Coalition is a membership-driven organization. Members play a central role in each of our successes – they help us shape our legislative priorities, training opportunities, and community education efforts. During the 2007 legislative session, membership support played a crucial role in securing doubled funding for Family Homeless Prevention; repealing the SSI Penalty; funding the Runaway & Homeless Youth Act; increasing funding for the Bridges program and for shelter and transitional housing; and maintaining funding for support services.
We are hard at work during the 2008 session to protect these gains and add to them. Already, we’ve helped secure $31 million in bonding for shelter, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing.
Your voice would be invaluable in helping us move the State in the right direction on housing, services, and homeless prevention efforts. Join the Coalition! Becoming a member of the Coalition is easy, and it gains you access to the only statewide network of its kind in Minnesota.
